Hyde, Robert Wilson (illus.); Paul Elder. The House That Jack Built: A Wedding Book. San Francisco: Paul Elder & Company, 1909. Printed on French folded leaves, with horizontal color illustrations on every page, highlighted with bold and broad gold blocking as background, by Robert Wilson Hyde, Santa Barbara artist and book designer. Illustrated endpapers with bright yellow designs. Three-part thick twine extending through three holes at the inner margins. This copy, the "Joy Bell Edition", was bound in full "Shiki silk" (originally priced at $6.00), as opposed to the more commonly encountered white buckram “Bridal Edition” (which was priced at $3.50).
Measures approx. 9.75" x 11.25". Some rubbing/wear to silk at corners and spine tips. Overall, a beautiful copy of this very scarce example of Hyde's work.
WorldCat locates a single institutional holding (Boston Athenaeum).
