Scott, Sir Walter. The Lady of the Lake. Boston: Samuel E. Cassino, 1893. Chromolithograph frontispiece with black & white illustrations to the text.
Bound in light brown calf with a modeled & painted design to the front cover of trees and a stream, with the title and author above. Blue & green endpapers, top edge gilt. Lengthy gift inscription by Mabel Cowee, a graduate of the San Jose State Teacher's College in 1927, to front endpaper. Cowee was presumably the binder of this volume, and while an amateur binding, it is well intentioned & uses an interesting modeled leather technique. Measures approx. 4.25" x 6". Some rubbing to edges and corners, spotting to covers. Pages lightly browned.
