Large paper copy, limited to 150 copies printed on Dutch handmade paper, of which this is #72. Illustrated throughout with manuscript examples. Volume III in Pollard’s “Books About Books” series. Madan’s introduction to manuscript books, including materials, scripts, abbreviations, illumination, dating, collation, cataloguing, and the use of manuscripts as historical evidence.

Bound in dark green morocco by The Monastery Hill Bindery (signed in gilt on the rear turn-in). Covers tooled in gilt with multiple concentric rectangular rules, repeated on both boards. Spine with five raised bands, title and author to second and third compartments, the remaining compartments with matching nested rectangular tooling. Wide gilt-ruled turn-ins with green watered silk doublures and endleaves, top edge gilt. 

Measures approx. 6" x 9.25". Spine slightly faded from green toward olive. A few minor spots of rubbing to edges and corners.
