First Random House trade edition, following the 1928 signed limited edition, which was the first book issued under the Random House imprint. Illustrated throughout by Rockwell Kent, with illustrated title-page, decorative initials, and vignette illustrations throughout the text. Signed by Kent on preliminary blank.

Bound in full deep red calf by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for Marshall Field and Company, covers gilt with outer roll border, corner floral tools, gilt title to front cover, and double-ruled central panels. Five bands to spine with title and author to onlaid faded second and third compartments, remaining compartments with floral gilt tooling. Gilt-ruled turn-ins with blue, red, and gold marbled endpapers; all edges gilt. Housed in original fleece-lined marbled paper slipcase.

Measures approx. 7" x 10.25". Spine (and finger pull portion of binding) lightly faded. Some minor rubbing at corners and to spine bands.
