With five designs by C. M. Gere, all delicately hand-colored in this copy. Extra-illustrated with six inserted tissue-covered chromolithographic plates, primarily of saints. 

Bound in full brown crushed morocco by Ramage with central gilt IHS monogram, spine with raised bands and gilt title. Elaborate gilt-rolled turn-ins with light pastel marbled endpapers; all edges gilt. ("IHS" is the traditional Christogram, derived from the first three letters of the Greek name of Jesus and long used as a devotional emblem.)

Bookplate of Henry Fane Haylett Sewell, dated 1906, to front pastedown. Measures approx. 4.5" x 6.5". Some minor rubbing to joints, edges, and corners. Hinges and joints sound. Small chip to upper spine tip. Some sporadic pencil annotations in the text.
