Hubbard, Elbert. The Philosophy of Elbert Hubbard. East Aurora, NY: The Roycrofters, 1906. One of 13 copies printed on Japan vellum, signed and numbered by Elbert Hubbard II, this copy #12. With portrait frontispiece of Hubbard, title-page device printed in black and orange, decorative initials and ornaments throughout, and each page ruled in blue. A posthumous Roycroft collection of Hubbard’s writings, “gathered together by John T. Hoyle and made into a book by Charles J. Rosen and Charles Youngers, craftsmen at the Roycroft Shops,” as stated in the colophon.

Bound in 3/4 dark green morocco by the Roycroft bindery with mottled paper-covered boards. Five bands to spine, title to second compartment, and geometric gilt tooling and stippling to remaining four compartments. Mottled endpapers in yellow, rose, green, and cream. Top edge gilt. Measures approx. 5.25" x 7.75”. Some light fading to spine and edges of corners, along with some wear to edges of paper on the boards.
